Kwik-Klik installed a bespoke 21 linear metre Pedestrian Tunnel with 1 Hour Fire Performance at Perry Barr Shopping Centre in Birmingham.
The indoor installation is a bespoke adaptation of our re-usable Clip-to-Scaffold PVC hoarding system. The tunnel incorporates two 1 Hour Fire Rated Windows and a 1 Hour Fire Curtain on the workside of the hoarding – as seen in the photos.
The scaffold frame was configured to create a crash deck over the tunnel to protect shoppers from potential falling debris during the work. The Clip-to-Scaffold system was chosen because of the speed and ease of installation, which almost halves the time of installing a stud and plasterboard system.
As well as creating a robust pedestrian tunnel, the hoarding creates a secure compound where trades can safely carry out refurbishment works within the shopping centre.
The tunnel also features an integral 110 volt ‘plug & play’ Bulkhead Lighting System which illuminates the tunnel. The lighting system is mains powered and has 3 Hour battery back-up for emergency use.
The Kwik-Klik installation team were on site for 3 days and the bespoke tunnel is expected to remain in place for up to 4 months while works are carried out.
Double digi-lock personnel doors allow secure access to the worksite for trade teams. All components in the system used are re-usable and Zero Waste to Landfill was generated on site.
