Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham

Kwik-Klik installed a series of six bespoke modular Consulting Rooms made from One Hour Fire Rated hoarding panels within the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Cancer Centre in Birmingham.

The separate temporary rooms were needed during a major refurbishment which included removing a roof section above the existing consulting rooms and re-locating the temporary offices in the Cancer Centre’s Reception area.

72 linear metres of Kwik-Klik’s Fire Rated hoarding system were installed over two weekends and expertly configured into a series of new rectangular rooms. The Fire Rated panels were used for the the office celings as well as the walls and built-in DDA compliant doors were included, as well as ceiling cutouts for light wells.

Bespoke fabrication and graphics

The bespoke design included 100mm steel box-section posts which were made to order by the in-house Kwik-Klik fabrication team. The power coated posts were bolted to the floor to strengthen the stability of the new temporary structures.

Bespoke NHS blue feature wall graphics were applied to one internal wall in each new room. These were artworked and installed by the Kwik-Klik Graphics team, led by Tony Stead.

Additional sound reduction panels

Following a site survey, the Kwik-Klik team created a bespoke solution using Fire Rated panels, fabricated steelwork and an additional sound reduction membrane (concealed behind a white hygienic cladding system) designed to reduce noise levels by 53dB.

Kwik-Klik submitted a full engineers design and our professional installation team completed the work in a sensitive fashion within a ‘live’ hospital environment where Cancer patients were being cared for.

The temporary consultation rooms are scheduled to remain in place for a minimum of 6 months while essential restoration and upgrade works are completed elswehere in the building.
