Kwik-Klik installed 192 linear metres of bespoke foodsafe PVC partitions to segregate the food production areas within the new premises of a major ready-meal brand in South London.

Following two site visits by the Kwik-Klik team, a bespoke 2.7 metre high 50mm partition system was developed to create separate work areas in a large open plan area that had previously been a cash & carry store.

The configuration of the partitions was detailed in a specially commissioned engineering drawings.

The unique partition system we used is a 50mm bolt-down version of our Freestanding and Floor to Ceiling systems.

High-strength specification

To achieve the required partition strength and stability, we used 50mm PVC panels supported at regular intervals by galvanised steel supports which slot vertically into the cavities of the hollow form panel. The baseplates of each steel support were securely bolted down into the floor.

In several places, hidden 2m vertical steel supports were used to allow essential equipment to be attached to the partition panels (e.g. ultraviolet insect killer lamps, dispensers and electrical sockets.)

Bespoke steel door frames were also manufactured to exact specifications to support robust saloon-type doors which swing open inwards and outwards. Bump bars were fitted to these doors so they can be pushed open by trolleys.

The bespoke steelwork with welded joints was produced by our in-house fabrication specialists, Calder Precision.

Food safe and hygienic

Stringent hygiene standards are essential in the preparation and packaging of the ready-meals which go directly on to the shelves of leading UK supermarkets.

The robust 50mm white PVC panels have a wipe-clean, impermeable, smooth surface which allows stains to removed quickly with soft detergents. The galvanised steel floorplates and door framesĀ  can be cleaned regularly to maintain hygienic standards and will remain rust-free.

From consultation to installation

A consultation period of 4 weeks included two site visits. This ensured that detailed plans and engineering drawings optimised the configuration of the partitions to meet the client’s segregation and workflow requirements.

The partitions were installed by a Kwik-Klik team of four over 10 days.

51 polycarbonate/aluminium window frame units were delivered to the site and expertly fitted into the partitions by the Kwik-Klik team.

26 made-to-order doors with lift-off saloon-door hinges were fabricated off-site and fitted by our team.

Following our installation the M&E and kitchen equipment was installed as seen in the photographs.

The M&E team were able to run ‘hidden’ cables through the cavities in the hoarding and were impressed with the versatility of the Kwik-Klik partition system.
